Aussie Nails Monday - Birthday

Hi everyone.
Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. I have been busy doing 'stuff'.
I am hoping to start posting more often when I get a bit more time (who know when that will be though).
For now I have my 'Aussie Nails Monday' Birthday mani for you.Elissa at Lissa’s Polish Addiction came up with the idea for some Aussie blogger to do a weekly nail challenge. It sounded like a great idea, so I decided to give it a go. I am hoping I am able to actually participate more in this challenge than I did in the 'This is Halloween' nail art challenge.

And just before we start - I am aware that I am posting this on a Wednesday but I was busy, so backoff, okay :p

The theme for this week is birthday.
I kind of forgot that I was doing this challenge (I know, what a great way to start).Since I forgot, i thought it would be best to start with something simple and not attempt any nail art.So I decided to just use some polishes that reminded me of 'birthdays'.

I decided on 2 polishes, 1 that reminded me of kids birthday parties and 1 that reminded me of teenage birthday parties.

So, without further adieu, the nails...

Gloss n Sparkle 'Unicorn Droppings' over Ulta3 Lily White on most of the nails. This is the 'kids party' part of the mani. This reminds me of Fairy Bread which seemed to be a staple of birthday parties in my youth. *For those of you not in Australia, Fairy Bread is white bread with margerine and sprinkles (or 100's and 1000's as it is known here) and it is delicious!*
SIDE NOTE - I usually wear Unicorn Droppings by itself (it is opaque after 2-3 coats) but I have used it so much that I am getting quite low and am now afraid of running out. I suppose I will just have to order anothe bottle

On the feature nail, I have Gloss n Sparkle Passion Pop. This is the 'teenage party' part of the mani. I have some fuzzy memories from my teenage years of drinking passion pop (possibly straight from the bottle)at parties. *I was a classy girl.*

I LOVE both of these polishes on their own (I am prety sure Gloss n Sparkle is my favourite indie brand ever) but I wasn't a huge fan of the 2 polishes together.
So I didn't wear this as a full mani.

When I took this off, I did a full mani for the next day. Completely coincidentally, the mani was also sort of birthday themed.

This is Essence 'Party Princess' over Ulta3 'Black Satin' and OPI 'La-Pazitively Hot'.

Thanks for stopping by.
I'll hopefully be back soon.

'This is Halloween' Challenge - Zombie - FINALLY!

So, I commited to doing the 'This is Halloween' nail art challenge a little while back. At the time I was so excited to do it and thought I could keep up with all of the posts.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case and I didn't get around to doing most pf it.

However, there were a couple of halloween manis that I did but didn't post here. So, I decided that 'better late than never' and I would post some of them.

This is the Zombie themed mani. I had some grand plans for this one but ran out of time. SO I have done something quite simple.

I thought these were quite cute. I used Zoya Gemma and a Ma-nish-ma Matte Green. I also used the ELF matte top coat.

See you soon.

This is Halloween Nail Art Challenge - Ghosts

Hi everyone,

Today is part 3 of the This is Halloween challenge.

Today's theme is Ghosts.

I had some trouble coming up with ideas for this one an because I am not great at nail art, I struggled to decide what to do.

I decided to do a Pac Man mani, featuring the Pac Man ghosts.

So, here are the pics. Enjoy...

This is Halloween Challenge - Watermarbling

Hi everyone.

I'm so sorry this is only just going up and that it is a very brief post.
I have been ridiculously busy in the padt few days.

This is the second challenge and the first time I have ever true Watermarbling. - Well, that's actually a lie. I tried Watermarbling a couple of days ago and it was HORRIBLE!! ~ I will post a blog in the next couple of days about 'what not to do' when watermarbling, complete with some pics of my disasterous first attempt.

This one however, was pretty good and I am quite happy with it.

I used OPI Eiffel for this Colour and OPI La-Pazitively Hot.

Now, to the photos...

NOTD - Esence and Pahlish

Hi everyone.

Just a quick post with the mani I am wearing today.

This is Essence 'A Lovely Secret'

It is a gorgeous light purple polish. Applies really easily and has lasted pretty well.
I got this last week from Priceline for $1.27! They had all of their essence polishes for 50% off...Yay!!

The feature nail is a polish by Pahlish. I don't know what this is called as I got it as part of a grab bag and the label was damaged....I think it is called 'slow Faded Love'?!?
It is gorgeous!
I thought is was more sheer and I was going to put I over all of my nails but when I saw how dense it was and the coloured base, I decided it was perfect for a feature nail.

So...on to the pics...

"This is Halloween" Nail Art Challenge - Horror Movie

Hi everyone,
Thanks for coming to check out my blog.

As I have mentioned before, I have never participated in a nail art challenge of any form. So, when Bec over at Lacquer Dreams suggested a month-long, Halloween themed nail art challenge, I jumped at the chance.

Introducing..."This is Halloween"

Today is October 1st, so I have to show you my "Horror Movie" mani.
This one was a hard one (as I suspect they will all be) to come up with an idea.
As I was pressed for time (and because I havent really done any nail art before) I came up with a simple idea.

The Horror movie I used as inspiration is Scream.
I remember watching the Scream movies when I was younger and finding them genuinely scary, then as I became older, I began to appreciate the movies for their satirical side.

So, without further adieu...

I painted most of my nails with Essence "Galactic Black", as I wanted a black with a slight sparkle or texture to it. In the Scream movies, the killer's robe was black with a subtle shimmer to it. I think Galactic Black captured the texture/colour of the robe nicely (although, unfortunately it does not completely show up in these pics). I also used ELF Matte Top Coat to mattify the black nails.

This is Essence "Galactic Black" swatched on a nail wheel. The one on the left is by itself and the one on the right is withe the ELF Matte Top Coat.

Once the nails were dry, I got a cheap red nail polish and flicked it in the air. This sent nail polish flying everyone...and some of it even ended up on my nails!

Check out the horrible mess I made!

The accent nails (ring and thumb *not pictured*) were painted withUlta3 Lily White. i then drew the features on with a black sharpie. I know its not the most conventional nail art too but I havent recieved my nail art pens, dotting tools or nail art brushes yet...so I adapted. I then topped the finger off with the ELF Matte Top Coat.

This challenge was so much fun and a great way to introduce myself into nail art.
I am really looking forward to the upcoming challenges and I am hoping I will be able to master some more complicated nail art for some of them.

The next challenge is Water Marbling...Something I have also never done before. From what I have been told, first attempts at this are usually disasterous. So, come back on October 5 for a nail art disaster of apocolyptic proportions!

And make sure you check out all the other lovely ladies doing this challenge. Bec has organised some sort of Inlinkz thing, so there should be links or something at the bottom of this post.
